SMILE!

It’s very easy these days, with all that we have on our plates and on our many ‘to do’ lists, to go about life all too seriously. We focus on things that have to be done and meeting deadlines, all the while completely forgetting to SMILE.

It’s so true- when you smile (a REAL smile, not a fake ‘posing for a family snap in the freezing cold at a wedding smile’), it feels GOOD inside. It warms the cockles, releases endorphins and is actually contagious. For when you smile at someone, I bet you a fiver that they will smile back at you. It’s a little gift that we pass from one to another to make the other person feel special in that given moment.

And that smile isn’t just visible, it’s audible too. When you pick up the phone to speak to your lovely mum, your gorgeous other half or your BFF, if you are sharing something fun and positive, I bet you smile- and the person at the other end of the phone can HEAR it. They will hear that you are smiling, and in turn, so will they.

So, in terms of voiceovers, this is something worth remembering- for ‘when you smile, the world smiles with you’.

I often get asked to bring some warmth and smile to a read- it really gives it a gorgeous, personal touch which the listener can hear. It makes the voiceover sound real, genuine and relatable, and lets face it, that’s marketing HEAVEN.

So whether its a TV Commercial for bread, a Radio Ad for a donkey sanctuary or a phone system for a techy whizz company, if you want the listener to feel warm and fuzzy inside and get their interest- get your voiceover to smile.
